Siem Reap and Ho Chi Minh Trip
09:48:00
My main agenda in Cambodia was to visit the temples of Siem Reap and have a bit of relaxation as well, but while we were there, I found out that Cambodia has a lot more to offer. I never thought Cambodia has a rich history and painful past regarding Khmer Rouge and Polpot. Men, I really need to review my history!
Since Cambodia is just beside Vietnam, we've also decided to visit Ho Chi Minh, also known as Saigon City. It is famous for its French buildings and the bloody World War II relics. Vietnam, like a lot of other countries in Asia is a developing country but in the city, I can really feel the fast paced life. What's quite amusing is their sweet coffee which my taste buds always wish to have every morning. Another must do is crossing the street with all the motorcycles going your way! That's quite a quick adventure in the city!
Anyway, let me first start with the logistics in going to Siem Reap from Hong Kong. There are two options which I recommend:

Anyway, let me first start with the logistics in going to Siem Reap from Hong Kong. There are two options which I recommend:
- Hong Kong - Ho Chi Minh - Hong Kong via Cathay Pacific & Ho Chi Minh - Siem Reap - Ho Chi Minh via Vietnam Airlines
- Hong Kong - Bangkok - Hong Kong via Cathay Pacific or Thai Airways & Bangkok - Siem Reap - Bangkok via Bangkok Airways
We took the first option arriving in the afternoon, around 2 pm. Schedule must have changed now so you can just check whichever will be suitable for your schedule. There's also another option of taking Dragon Airlines to Phnom Penh, but that is only recommended if you will visit the capital which is popular for its historical museums.
We were trying to hit two stones in one go and so here's our skeletal itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in the afternoon, check in at Le Meridien Hotel and rest for a while. In the afternoon, proceed to Quad biking.
Day 2: Temple full day tour and spa in the evening.
Day 3: After breakfast, proceed to the airport for flight to Ho Chi Minh. Upon arrival at the airport, driver pick us up and transfer us to Little Saigon Boutique Hotel. Rest for a while and in the evening, proceed to dinner cruise.
Day 4: Ho Chi Minh City tour.
Day 5: After breakfast. transfer back to the airport for flight back to Hong Kong.
This is just an introductory post. In the following post, I will go further in detail about our trip which we did last year August, 2012 to celebrate our 4th Wedding Anniversary.
To be continued...
